होली का उत्सव क्या है ?

होली व्रज का एक प्राचीन उत्सव जो 5000 वर्ष से बड़े उत्सव एवम प्रेम से बनाया जाता है |

गौड़ीय वैष्णव भक्त इस उत्सव को चैतन्य महाप्रभु के जन्मोत्सव के रूप में मनाते हैं |

व्रज के भक्त इसको राधा कृष्ण के प्रेम के रूप में मनाते हैं |

अब तो ये विश्व का प्रसिद्ध उत्सव हो गया है

होली कैसे शुरू हुई ?

एक बार श्री गोवर्धन के समीप भगवान श्री कृष्ण से लीला में राधा रानी मान कर बैठी, तो उनको मनाने श्री कृष्ण एक सरोवर पर आये | सखियों ने खेल-खेल में उनकी और राधा रानी की गांठ बांध दी, गाव का नाम पड़ा गांठोली ..फिर राधारानी को मनाने के लिए उनके ऊपर थोडा गुलाल लगाया, स्थान का नाम पड़ा गुलाल कुंड...यहाँ पर पूरा वर्ष होली मनाई जाती है |

सतयुग में प्रहलाद की रक्षा करी भगवान ने होलिका राक्षसी का दहन कर डाला। तब से हर वर्ष भक्त प्रह्लाद के स्मरण में होली मनाई जाती है |

होली कितने दिनों का त्यौहार है ?

व्रज में बसंत पंचमी से प्रारंभ होती है, ये 40 दिन चलती है। लाडू मार, लट्ठ मार, छड़ी मार, हुरंगा उत्सव आदि ..

इस्कॉन में आप कैसे मनाते हैं ?

उत्सव की शुरुआत श्री श्री निताई गौरांग (भगवान चैतन्य महाप्रभु और भगवान नित्यानंद) के पल्लक्की उत्सव से होती है। उत्सव देवताओं को भव्य कीर्तन के बीच फूलों से सजी पल्लक्की में जुलूस के लिए ले जाया जाता है। जुलूस के बाद, निताई गौरांग जो कलियुग में बलराम एवं कृष्ण साक्षात् है उनका भव्य अभिषेक किया जाता है। पहले पंचामृत से और फिर पंचगव्य से स्नान कराया जाता है, उसके बाद विभिन्न फलों के रस से स्नान कराया जाता है। भक्त भगवान की महिमा करते हुए ब्रह्म-संहिता से प्रार्थना करते हैं। श्रील भक्तिविनोद ठाकुर द्वारा रचित गौरा आरती के साथ एक भव्य आरती की जाती है । आरती के बाद, देवताओं को 108 कलशों के पवित्र जल से स्नान कराया जाता है जबकि भक्त पुरुष सूक्त की प्रार्थना करते हैं। इसके बाद उनके स्वामी पुष्प वृष्टि (सुगंधित फूलों की वर्षा) और 56 व्यंजनों (छप्पन भोग) का विशेष भोग लगाया जाता है |

होली उत्सव पर क्या व्रत करना चाहिए ?

जी हां व्रत करना चाहिए, केवल अनुकल्प फलाहार ही खा सकते हैं।

What is the Festival of Holi?

Holi is an ancient festival of Vraja that has been celebrated with great joy and devotion for over 5,000 years.Gaudiya Vaishnava devotees celebrate this festival as the birth anniversary of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu.The devotees of Vraja celebrate it as a symbol of the divine love of Radha and Krishna.Today, it has become a globally renowned festival.

How Did Holi Begin?

Once, near Shri Govardhan, in a divine pastime, Radha Rani was upset with Lord Shri Krishna and sat in seclusion. To console her, Shri Krishna came to a lake, where the sakhis (female companions) playfully tied Radha and Krishna’s garments together. This place later came to be known as "GanthoLi" (the place of knots). To cheer Radha Rani, Shri Krishna playfully applied some gulal (colored powder) on her, and that place came to be known as "Gulal Kund", where Holi is celebrated throughout the year.

In the Satya Yuga, Lord Vishnu protected his devotee Prahlada by burning the demoness Holika to ashes. Since then, Holi has been celebrated every year in remembrance of Bhakta Prahlada’s devotion and Lord Vishnu’s protection.

How Many Days Does Holi Last?

In Vraja, Holi begins from Basant Panchami and lasts for 40 days. It includes various unique celebrations such as Ladoo Mar Holi, Lathmar Holi, Chhadi Mar Holi, Huranga Utsav, and many more.

How is Holi Celebrated in ISKCON?

The festival begins with the Palki Utsav (palanquin procession) of Sri Sri Nitai Gauranga (Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and Lord Nityananda). The beautifully decorated deities are taken out in a grand procession with ecstatic kirtan (devotional singing).

After the procession, Lord Nitai Gauranga, who are the direct incarnations of Krishna and Balarama in Kali Yuga, are bathed in a grand Abhishek ceremony. First, they are bathed with Panchamrit (five nectars), then with Panchagavya (five sacred substances from cows), and finally, with various fruit juices. During this, devotees chant prayers from the Brahma Samhita and glorify the Lord.

A grand Gaur Aarti is performed, with Gaura Aarti composed by Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakur. Following this, the deities are bathed with the sacred water of 108 Kalashas while devotees chant Purusha Sukta prayers.

Afterward, the deities are showered with fragrant flower petals (Pushpa Vrishti) and offered Chappan Bhog (56 varieties of food). The festival also includes Phoolon ki Holi (Holi played with flowers).

Should One Observe Fasting on Holi?

Yes, fasting should be observed on this day. Only Anukalpa Phalahar (light fasting with fruits and specific permitted foods) is allowed.
